Guide to SSC CGL Exam:

SSC CGL exam stands for Staff Selection Commission-Combined Graduate level Exam. This exam is conducted by the SSC( Autonomous body) for filling out Group B, Group C and Group D posts. Some of the Govt. Jobs which come under this exam and dream of every Govt. job aspirants are like; Custom Excise Inspector, Income Tax Inspector, Sub Inspector in Central Bureau of Investigation, Inspector in Central Bureau of Narcotics etc.

Pay Band/Salary of the posts cover under the SSC-CGL Exam:

If we divide posts on the basis of Group or paying scale, Posts are divided into 3 different categories;

  • Group B posts-Non-Gazetted ( Pay Band –II Rs 9300-34000)
  • Group B posts-Non-Gazetted ( Pay Band –II Rs 9300-34000)
  • Group C posts-Non-Gazetted ( Pay Band –I1 Rs 5200-20200)

Both Group B posts carry Posts of grade Pay of Rs. 4200, Rs. 4600, Rs. 4800 and Rs. 5400.

While Group C posts carry posts of grade Pay of Rs. 1800, Rs. 1900, Rs. 2000, Rs. 2400 and Rs. 2800.

Essential Qualification for the Posts covers under the SSC CGL Exam:

Essential qualification for the all posts is Bachelor’s degree from the recognised university expect 3 below posts for which Desirable qualification is different;

  1. Assistant Audit Officer: Desirable Qualifications for the Post of Assistant Audit Officer is Chartered Accountant or cost & Management Accountant or Company Secretary or Masters in Commerce or Masters in Business Studies or Masters in Business Administration (Finance) or Masters in Business Economics.
  2. Statistical Invigilator Grade-II: Either you should have 60 % in the mathematics at 12th Standard level OR Statistics as one of the subject in Bachelor’s degree.
  3. Compiler: Economics or Statistics or Mathematics as compulsory or Elective subject in the Bachelor’s degree.

Exam Pattern of SSC CGL Exam:

In SSC-CGL Exam, SSC Conducts Exams in 2 different portions. Tier 1 is necessary for everyone and there is only one exam of 200 marks divided in 4 different portions General Intelligence & Reasoning, General Awareness, Quantitative Aptitude and English of 50 marks each.

Tier 2 consists of 4 papers which are not necessary for everyone; that depends upon your chosen posts.

4 different papers in tier-2 are as follows; General Studies (Finance and Economics) (Paper-4), Statistics (paper-3), Quantitative Abilities (Paper-1) and English Language & Comprehension (Paper-2).

Paper 1 and 2 is necessary for everyone while Paper 3 is for those who applied for post of Statistical Investigator Gr.II & Compiler and Paper 4 is for those who applied for the post of Assistant Audit Officer.
